(They/them)
Gender Affirming Medical and surgical Assessment Provider
I began my journey as a healer by volunteering as a mediator at a community dispute resolution center. This was a natural stepping stone to counseling – I attended PSU's program in Marriage and Family Therapy and graduated in 2018. Since then, I worked at several community mental health agencies providing counseling to folks of all ages and backgrounds and mental health struggles. Most recently, I provided crisis services in rural Oregon and Washington. I have a knack for standing beside people and supporting them through the most difficult days of their lives. I bring lived experience to the counseling relationship. You're not the only one who has struggled!
I believe counseling should be a collaborative process. You know you better than I do, and I'm here to help you discover who you want to be, what you want to feel like, and the best ways to get there. I take an anti-oppressive, holistic, contemplative approach to counseling that recognizes the barriers society uses to keep folks from flourishing. I love helping people identify where their power lies and how they can tap into it.
I often incorporate mindfulness into counseling – the ability to clearly see the causes of our suffering helps us step into more a vibrant and fulfilling life. As a non-binary/trans-masc, queer-identified person, I'm especially passionate about supporting folks in stepping into and owning their full, powerful, beautiful selves. I'm here to partner with you in a way that minimizes power differentials and gives you voice and choice. I'm here to support you as you build a more vibrant life.
Outside of my therapy work, I am an athlete with a passion for snow sports and wind sports. I identify strongly as a small-town, rural American. I love forecasting weather for outdoor enthusiasts. I enjoy meditation retreats, and I am a facilitator for various sanghas. I also love baking, reading, gravel and mountain biking, gardening, building things using power tools, and oh gosh, too many other things to list. I look forward to hearing about the things you find meaningful.
