Paige Myers-Matthews, LPC, CADC I

(They/them)

Clinical Supervisor and Community Educator

As a queer, non-binary person, my work as a therapist and a supervisor is dedicated to helping queer and trans people feel better. As a therapist, I specialize in working with queer and trans teens and adults, and families of trans teens. I practice therapy from an anti-oppressive lens, and use a combination of therapeutic techniques, including talk therapy and EMDR. My work as a therapist focuses on helping queer and trans people:

  • Understand who they are and how they experience the world

  • Find and use their voice for self-advocacy and advocacy for others

  • Navigate and challenge systems of oppression

  • Heal from the impacts of systemic and interpersonal oppression

  • Understand substance use patterns

  • Build joyful and supportive community and relationships

  • Find and engage in queer and trans joy

As a supervisor, I work with therapists to help them develop their professional identities, build skills to work with historically marginalized clients, and provide strong client care through an anti-oppressive lens. I believe that both supervision and therapy can be tools to help our queer community grow, cultivate resilience, practice self-regulation and co-regulation, and learn new ways to help each other.

My work within the queer and trans community also extends past my work as a therapist and supervisor. I am also a researcher, and I have a Ph.D. in Education and Leadership from Pacific University. My dissertation research focused on understanding what risk and resilience factors influence non-binary people as they decide to use drugs or alcohol for sex. Outside of work, I volunteer petting cats at the Oregon Humane Society, and spend my time going to queer events, caring for my rescue chickens, and checking out new vegan restaurants in Portland.
