GENDER AFFIRMING MEDICAL AND SURGICAL ASSESSMENT PROVIDER

I am a trauma- and attachment-informed, strengths-based therapist who is committed to serving the LGBTQIA+ community through providing gender affirming care assessments. I left the legal field in 2015 to pursue a career in counseling to better connect with others and provide meaningful, healing support. First and foremost, I believe in meeting clients where they are at and supporting self-determination and bodily autonomy. We come into this world with a strong sense of self that is often invalidated as we are socialized and taught rules, expectations, and cultural norms. In order to restore self-trust, it is essential to examine and challenge the oppressive systems of power that require conformity and harm us. I believe that our coping is rooted in wisdom and that embodying this stance can free us from shame, empower us to make desired changes, and increase our ability to show up as our authentic selves.

I am a fierce advocate for anyone who trusts me to hold space for them. I aim to provide safety for clients to show up as they are and be seen, understood, and unconditionally accepted.

I recognize my privilege as a white mental health provider and approach clients with respect, humility, and reverence for all lived experiences, particularly those of marginalized identities. Practicing self-advocacy, vulnerability, and repair are essential to the power of healing in relationship. I highly encourage clients to name any discomfort, questions, or conflict that arise in our work together.

My clinical training and experience have primarily focused on teens and adults in community mental health and eating disorder treatment settings, including individual, family and extensive group therapy facilitation. I am passionate about increasing access to care in these settings, particularly for BIPOC, queer and trans communities. In my free time, I love playing complicated board games, snow-shoeing, paddle boarding at Rooster Rock, cuddling my cat, and dancing to as much live music as possible.
